A long splice is used to create an endless loop of steel wire rope, which is prodominatly used on Conveyor Belts. This method of splicing is necessary as the wire rope has no variation in diameter due to the process of splicing, therefore can be used to run between pullies & sheaves without causing any resistance or snagging.
The wire rope also has good abrasion qualities and the splice offers a strong tensile loading.
